The first chapter details the history of Junior's. It was an interesting read especially because I have never been to Junior's. The second chapter provides advice, tips, techniques and recipes for crusts, sauces and toppings. The remaining chapters have recipes for many different types of cheesecakes.
So far, I made the Original New York Cheesecake and the Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake. Both were absolutely amazing. The original cheesecake was rich and creamy. The recipe was easy to follow and did not take much time. It is the perfect plain cheesecake recipe and the base recipe for many of the cheesecakes in the book. The Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake looked beautiful and tasted delicious. It was composed of two layers of sponge cake; one layer of strawberry cheesecake in the center; strawberries in the center and on top; and plenty of whipped cream between the layers and on top. I made it for a luncheon and it was an absolute hit. The presentation alone elicited many oooh's and aaah's. This cheesecake recipe was detailed, lengthy and time-consuming but it was well worth it. I made the strawberry cheesecake layer a few days ahead of time and kept it in the freezer. On the morning of the luncheon, I made the spongecake layers and I assembled the cake. Most of the cheesecakes in the Skyscraper Cheesecakes chapter seem to be time-consuming due to the multiple layers.
There may not be photographs of some of the recipes but the photographs that are included are impressive and mouthwatering. Although other reviewers may have been turned off by the lack of photos, the names and descriptions of each recipe are appealing as well. I am planning to make the Brownie Swirl Cheesecake soon. I love brownies and cheesecake and I cannot wait to combine the two in a single dessert. philly cream cheese cake recipes
Like other reviewers, I was also surprised that Junior's owners would give away their recipes but I am really happy that they did. This cookbook is my only cheesecake cookbook. I do not think I will ever search for another cheesecake recipe again. I highly recommend this book for anyone searching for extraordinary, delectable cheesecake recipes.
